I'm planning to celebrate the month of October with a bang. By now, you would have noticed that I'm not so good at preparing sweets or snacks. So when I saw this challenge- 31 Days where you post a series of anything of your choice, I thought why not try my best to prepare some sweets and snacks. After all this is the month of Diwali!! Did you like my logo? I love it <3
I remember making this dish when I was a kid. I had proudly given a share of my fruit custard to my neighbour aunty who is a darling lady. I still remember her two sons praising me for my custard. Years have passed and I still fondly remember those.
Since I was taking the Navrathri fast, P had loaded my kitchen with a dozen variety of fruits. I didn't know what to do other than making a custard.
Ingredients:
Vanilla flavored Custard powder - 2 tbsp
Milk -500 ml
Sugar -3tbspns
Fruits- of your choice (Banana, apple, pineapple, papaya, musk melon, pomegranate, grapes(seedless),etc are popular choices).Method:
Mix 2 tablespoon of Vanilla custard powder with ¼ cup 0f warm milk. Make a smooth paste without any lumps. The custard paste is ready and keep aside.
Boil the remaining of milk with sugar.Add the custard paste to the milk and cook for about 5 mins, stirring continuously until it becomes thick.
Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature. Refrigerate it.
Cut and add any fruits of your choice.
Arrange the fruits in a bowl and pour the cold custard on top of it . Serve Chilled.
Chef says: It is not advisable to use watermelon as it oozes out it's water to the custard. Also, mix the fruits to custard only before serving.

This is my favorite because it's a smart way of making kids eat fruits....
I also add dry fruits in it, and decorate it with gems at the time of serving.

MMM, now I'm craving some trifle. I love trifle. Just add some chunks of cake along with the fruit and you're all set! Drool. OOH, I just had a childhood memory of dipping my finger in the Bird's Eye Custard container and being so disappointed at how bad it tasted on its own.
