Ingredients

- 1 cup basmati rice
- 2 cups water
- 1 tbsp cumin seeds / jeera
- 1" cinnamon stick
- 2 cardamon
- 2 red chillies
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 tbsp ghee
- a handful of finely chopped coriander leaves
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat ghee in a pressure cooker and add the dry garam masalas.
- Saute for about ten seconds. And add cumin seeds.
- Saute for about ten seconds in medium flame.
- Add the washed rice and mix well. Add water and salt. Mix again.
- Cover and cook in medium flame until the first whistle is blown.
- Switch off the flame and wait till the pressure is release.
- Open the lid, fluff the rice with a fork and add coriander leaves. Fluff again.
- Serve hot.
Notes
For variation, you can add half a cup of finely sliced onions after sauteing the cumin seeds. Brown them a little and then add the washed rice.
