Sambaram – Kerala Spiced Buttermilk

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups, thick yogurt
  • 1.5 cup of water
  • 1 shallot, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • Salt - to taste

Instructions

  1. Add water and yogurt in a bowl and whisk well.
  2. Add minced shallot, ginger, green chilies and salt. Whisk again.
  3. Chill in the refrigerator for an hour or so.
  4. Serve cold.

Notes

You can blend the yogurt and water to form a froth. Alternatively, you can also strain the shallot, green chilies, ginger and curry leaves before serving. You can omit shallot, if you do not prefer.
