Description
A refreshing Sangria cocktail with winter flavors and spices like cinnamon, cloves and star anise.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Holiday Spiced Simple Syrup:
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 3 inch strips of orange rind
- 3 star anise
- 7 cloves
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Sangria:
- 1 cup orange juice
- 2 cups red wine
- Club soda
- Fruits for garnish – orange, apple, pomegranate and rosemary/mint sprigs
Instructions
- In a saucepan, add the ingredients for the simple syrup. Bring to a boil and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let it cool. Strain and discard the solids.
- To make the sangria, combine the orange juice, simple syrup and red wine in a pitcher and top with club soda.
- Pour into glasses and garnish with fruit and rosemary/mint sprigs before serving.
Notes
You can keep the simple syrup refrigerated for up to two weeks.
