Carrot and Pea Pilaf

  • 3/4 cup finely diced carrot
  • 1/2 cup fresh peas
  • 3 cups cooked rice of your choice
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 cup finely sliced onions
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 3 cloves
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • Salt, to taste


  1. Heat oil in a pan. Add Cumin seeds, cinnamon sticks, bayleaf and cloves.
  2. When it splutters, add onion. Sauté until cooked and light brown.
  3. Add carrots and Peas. Mix, cover and cook for about seven minutes. This will help the veggies to cook well.
  4. Add garam masala powder and Sauté for a few seconds.
  5. Add to the cooked rice and gently mix with the help of a fork.
  6. Serve hot with raita or a curry of your choice.
