Description
Chicken Peralan is a Kerala style spicy, delicious dish where the chicken is marinated in a rich blend of spices which is then roasted and cooked in fried onions.
Ingredients

- 500gm chicken, cut into medium pieces
- 3 large onions, finely chopped
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- Salt, to taste
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- 1 sprig of curry leaves.
- Oil, to semi-fry
- 1 tsp coconut oil
To Grind:
- 1.5 tbsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp garam masala
- 1 tbsp finely chopped ginger
- 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
- Wash and clean chicken pieces.
- Grind the ingredients together and marinate the chicken pieces along with the juice of half a lemon for an hour.
- Heat oil in a pan and add the marinated chicken pieces. Once it is semi-done, remove the chicken pieces in a kitchen towel.
- To the same oil, add finely chopped onions and Fry. Once done, remove from oil.
- Mix the semi-fried chicken with fried onions. Add these back to the pan along with curry leaves. Cook for ten more minutes, mixing well in between.
- Switch off the flame and add a tsp of coconut oil. Let is rest for another ten minutes before serving.
