Chicken Peralan

Description

Chicken Peralan is a Kerala style spicy, delicious dish where the chicken is marinated in a rich blend of spices which is then roasted and cooked in fried onions. 


Ingredients

Scale
  • 500gm chicken, cut into medium pieces
  • 3 large onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • Salt, to taste
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 sprig of curry leaves.
  • Oil, to semi-fry
  • 1 tsp coconut oil

To Grind:

  • 1.5 tbsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped ginger
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash and clean chicken pieces.
  2. Grind the ingredients together and marinate the chicken pieces along with the juice of half a lemon for an hour.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add the marinated chicken pieces. Once it is semi-done, remove the chicken pieces in a kitchen towel.
  4. To the same oil, add finely chopped onions and Fry. Once done, remove from oil.
  5. Mix the semi-fried chicken with fried onions. Add these back to the pan along with curry leaves. Cook for ten more minutes, mixing well in between.
  6. Switch off the flame and add a tsp of coconut oil. Let is rest for another ten minutes before serving.
