Veg Pulao

Easy-to-make one-pot delicious Indian Veg Pulao where fragrant basmati rice is cooked with vegetables and spices.


  • 1.5 cups Basmati Rice, washed
  • 2 and a quarter cup Water
  • 3 tbsp Ghee (or Oil/Butter)
  • 1 tbsp Garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 2-3 Cloves
  • 1" Cinnamon
  • 2 Cardamom
  • 1 cup Onion, finely sliced
  • 1/4 cup Green beans, chopped (or diagonally cut)
  • 1/8 cup Carrot, finely chopped
  • 1/8 cup Sweet Corn
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder (optional)


  1. Heat a deep utensil and add ghee/oil/butter. Add finely chopped garlic, bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon, and cardamom.
  2. To this add finely sliced onion and saute.
  3. Once the onion is slightly browned, add chopped green beans. Saute for a couple of minutes.
  4. To this, add finely chopped carrot and saute.
  5. Add the sweet corn. Mix well.
  6. Add washed basmati/long grain rice to it and mix.
  7. Season it with some salt. You may also add a dash of garam masala powder. This is completely optional.
  8. Add water and cover and cook until the rice is done.
