For a change, this is not a recipe post. I was wondering if any of you have a foodie bucket list to share. If not, why not I create a #Fantastico Foodie Bucket List and share with you all. I might be writing about wanting to have some exotic chocolates from Switzerland or Beer from Brussels. But, I will try to Lets stick to something attainable. Something that isn't exhaustive. Sounds good?
- First things first, visit all the states in India and eat their local food. (Possible? Yes, especially because I'm blessed with a husband who will definitely move around every couple of years. Confused? Go, figure that out!)
- Cook all the dishes from a popular/famous cookbook. (Can you suggest some? I've been dying to get one since four to five years )
- Whole roast a chicken
- Learn to use an oven (I'm shit scared. Now don't keep the finger on your nose. I'm scared. End of story!)
- Bake a cake in the oven. (I've baked one using a pressure cooker before)
- Make a Gordan Ramsay dessert. (Someday, anyday! He is one amazing cook who has a huge impact on my life. No kidding! Die-hard fan!)
- Pickle something. (Maybe chilies? or Chicken?)
- Go vegetarian for three months (forget three, at least one? or a fortnight?)
- Cook with wine. (Zzzz...with the fire coming up! What a marvelous scene!)
- A vegetable garden where I can grow mini-tomatoes, chilies and others.
- Have a fondue.
- Learn to make one.
- Have authentic sushi
- Learn to roll out one.
- Prepare Onam Sadya. (Have prepared twice. But omitted to cook many dishes. You'll be surprised to know that there are more than 25 dishes spread on the banana leaf.)
- Oh, make a perfectly round soft and smooth roti (Don't laugh. I can't. Period.)
- Coffee and croissants in a Parisian café (I will go to Paris. Someday. Anyday!)
- Have hot hot Rasgullas and Gulab Jamuns from the streets of Kolkata.
- And then learn to make them. (Pretty bad in making sweets and desserts! It's definitely in my priority list)
- Catch tiger prawns and deal with it. (Scary as hell!)
- Macarons!! (again from MasterChef. Would love to try and bake one)
- Learn vegetable carving/food art (You got the idea!)
- Learn to make American Chopsuey. (Love it!)
- Be daring enough to have seafood other than fish, prawns or crab. (You are freaking crazy!)
- Learn food photography. (High time I do that. Though I take decent enough pics from my smartphone)
- Attend culinary workshops. (Be it Sanjeev Kapoor's or Nita Mehta's or the aunt next door, I want to learn to cook something exotic from somebody authentic)
- Make a mini music station in my kitchen. (Who doesn't love to play some peppy numbers while cooking? It's relaxing. It's a happy place. My happy place, I tell you!)
- Now that a music system is in place, why not a mini book shelf with all my cook books? Need one to fit in the big ledgers Mom gifted me for the wedding. It has all those cut out papers from different magazines. My treasure!
28 is my birth date. So, I'm ending here. Who knows, may be I will come back and add up some more. Do you have a foodie bucket list? Care to share?
