It's one of Kerala's favorite tea-time snacks. Popularly known as Mutta Kuzhalappam, it is also called Love letters mainly because of the shape or the folds and a sweet filling inside as in a love letter! 😀 Do you love love-letters? Hand written letters? I treasure them. I guess I still have those love notes given to me by my 'admirers'. Psst psst. I hope P doesn't read this. *winkwink* I'm more of a crazy personalized letters/ hand-written notes person, than chats or emails or whatever! That feeling of a person taking time to write for you is cute, isn't it ? I can write good ones too. I was being called the 'Mistress of Letters"! Oh good ol' days!

Anyway, Love letters are thin crapes or pancakes with a sweet cocunut filling. These days in hotels you also get them with spicy meat filling. Well, here's the recipe!

    Loveletters1

    Ingredients:
    All Purpose / Plain Flour (maida) - 1½ cup, Egg - 1, Milk - ½ cup
Sugar - 2 tbsp, Salt - to taste, Water - as required
    Coconut - 2 cups, Sugar - 6 tbsp, Cardamom - a teaspoon crushed,
    Ghee - 2 tablespoon
    Method:
    Let's prepare the filling first
Heat ghee in a pan and add the coconut and crushed cardamon. I didn't add ghee, I just cooked cocounut with sugar and crushed cardamon. Keep aside.
    Crapes:
Mix together the plain flour, egg, milk, sugar, salt, water and make a thin batter.
Heat a pan and pour the ladle full of  batter. Spread it. Cook and flip to the side.
    The pancake is now ready.
Put the filling in the prepared pancakes and roll it.
You can serve with honey or eat it just like that.
    Loveletters2
Chef says: You can also add a tablespoon of drinking chocolate powder or cocoa powder to have chocolate love letters! I love them that way 😀
    Loveletters3
Quick and easy, don't you think?

Just catching up with everyone's posts as I had been under the weather the past few days. So glad I came back to check this one. Such a cute name. I think in our (south indian -konkani) cuisine there is something similar that is called Patoli. The only difference is that it is steamed. Never made it. Always ate it when mom prepared. 😛

These sound really yummy! But you mention two spices I've never heard of before and not sure if I can find them locally.
