Here’s another simple dish which is sweet and spicy at the same time. Popular in the Cannanore region of Kerala, it is usually served as a dip with biriyanis.

Eenthapazham2

Ingredients:

Chopped dates- 1 cup, Chopped raisins- 1 cup, Vinegar- 1/4cup
Oil- 1tsp, Garlic chopped- 6, Ginger chopped- 1tsp
Chilli powder- 1tbsp, Salt- 1tsp

Method:

Soak the raisins and dates in vinegar for two hours.

Heat oil in a pan and add ginger and garlic. Saute for a minute.

Add chilli powder and salt. Mix and remove from heat.

Blend the ingredients in a processor. The mix can be smooth or chunky as per your choice.

Serve after a couple of hours.

Chef says:
You can store this in refrigerator for almost a week.

MMM, that sounds so unusual and interesting. I always enjoy reading your recipes. So different from my cooking which tends to be quite ordinary and a bit on the bland side.
