Bulletproof Coffee is the perfect way to jump start your day when on a Ketogenic Diet! Don’t be put off by the butter and oil!

I’m going to be honest here. This is indeed a Polyjuice Potion. The first time when I tasted Bulletproof Coffee, I nearly puked. It was so bleh :/ I swore I was never going to have it again in my life. But then, Thursdays came (I go veg on Thursdays!) and so did Navratri. I had to get the required amount of fat into my body. These days, I go clueless without eggs loaded with cheese for breakfast. So, I tried to adjust the quantity of the ingredients for Bulletproof Coffee and Voila! It tastes good!

What is Bulletproof Coffee?

Bulletproof Coffee was created by Dave Asprey as part of the Bulletproof Diet. It is also widely popular as Keto Coffee or Butter Coffee. Bulletproof Coffee is a combination of coffee, butter and coconut oil or MCT oil. Butter and oil in coffee, you may ask! Well, I did too. And the whole idea made my skin crawl. But I decided to give it a try due to the above-mentioned reasons.

There are three big reasons or advantages for why Bulletproof Coffee is taken in a Ketogenic diet. One, as I said, it is a perfect way to get all the required fats. Two, it gives energy. Add MCT oil to it and it becomes a perfect pre-workout meal. Meal, I said? Yes, that brings me to reason number three. Bulletproof Coffee makes you feel full for a long time. I had this in the morning and I haven’t had any meal yet (it is 7 pm as I type this).

This can also be considered as a disadvantage because you haven’t got enough nutrients as you get from the usual cauliflower, green leafy vegetables, meat or eggs. But you’re already full. Get what I mean? Also, I’d advise you not to have this coffee when you are not on a Keto diet. Because fat! Duh! Though on the Keto diet, I will not be having this every day too. Once or twice a week will do the trick.

How I make my Keto Coffee or Bulletproof Coffee

There are some tasty additions that I add to make Bulletproof coffee edible! Cocoa powder and vanilla essence are my go-to. You can also add cinnamon powder to it. But I have no idea how the whole thing will taste like when combined together.

To make my version of the Bulletproof coffee, add instant coffee powder, stevia, vanilla essence, heavy cream or fresh cream, butter, coconut oil and a cup of hot water. Blend together with a hand blender, electric or battery operator. Froth it up, that’s how a Keto Coffee should look like. That’s it. Gulp it down.

Butter I can understand but coconut oil! It always surprises me what goes in Keto diet. The coffee looks delicious though

I love this idea so much and I adore your mug! I’ll certainly have to try making this at some point in the future (possibly this Halloween as a treat).
