Pomegranate Martini recipe served with pomegranate seeds in a cocktail glass

Summer is here and it is time for some of my favorite fruits to make an appearance. It is also that time of the year where we look for refreshing summer drinks to beat the harsh sun and quench our thirst. That said, keep a lookout on this space for some amazing summer drinks.

Pomegranate Martini screams Christmas because of the deep ruby red color. Wow, your guests at a party or during the holiday season. But why wait for months to enjoy this colorful, refreshing drink?

This Pomegranate Martini is perfect for summers, ideal for your pool party, BBQs, picnics or any get together that you are hosting.

Before we get on with the recipe, here’s something you should know.

Martini Vs Margarita

I’ve been a teetotaler almost my entire life except for maybe a sip of this or that here and there. So, I’m completely new to alcoholic beverages and I’m learning the basics. I thought I’d share what I learn and try, with you too.

I’m in the midst of trying new cocktail recipes and it’s kinda addictive.

So, What is a Martini?

Martini is the universally accepted form of a cocktail. The best part about martini is that you can personalize it, suiting your taste. A classic martini is quite simple – gin, dry vermouth and garnished with an olive or two. It is never shaken, but stirred instead.

But as I mentioned, over the years, we’ve come up with many ways to customize it and honestly, there is no right or wrong way to making a martini.

Gin can be replaced with vodka, there are advocates for shaking a martini and instead of olives serve with a slice of lemon.

A Margarita, on the other hand, is another classic cocktail but from the family of sours. It is usually a good tequila, lime and a sweetener like an orange liqueur.

This Martini is made from the goodness of pomegranates- a powerhouse of Vitamin C and fiber. Those ruby red seeds also give a perfect crunch to the cocktail.

How to Make Pomegranate Martini

Pomegranate martini is a perfect blend of sour, sweet and refreshing. All it needs is a good amount of pomegranate juice, your favorite vodka, a dash of orange juice, sparkling water, and a squeeze of lemon.

  1. In a pitcher, mix together the pomegranate juice, vodka (I used the orange-flavored vodka), orange juice, sparkling water, and lemon juice.
  2. Chill in a refrigerator until required.
  3. Serve chilled in a cocktail glass, garnished with pomegranate granules and lemon slices.
