Bread Pizza on Tawa and Microwave
Bread Pizza is a quick snack that will come together in just 5 mins! This instant alternative to the traditional pizza is made on a stovetop in a pan/skillet/tawa (or in a microwave) and is exactly what you need for a quick munch. Loved by kids and adults alike, Bread Pizza can be served as a teatime snack or an appetizer for parties.

Summer holidays are here and you'd be pulling your hair out over what to feed your kids. Of course, things are different now where we are adjusting our lives to the new normal. This also means that our kids are stuck at home without being able to go for picnics or summer camps. Let's make some fun and healthy dishes that our kids will absolutely love!

Bread Pizza is one of the easiest snacks that you can make at home. You can either make it in an oven or on a tawa on the stovetop.

All you need are some bread slices, pizza sauce, veggies of your choice (or even meat!), and cheese! If you use a store-bought instant pizza sauce, this recipe comes in just 5 to 7 minutes. This is a Pizza Sauce that I recommend.

    Bread Pizza is

    • quick and easy
    • yum! 😛
    • instant variation to traditional pizza
    • made with pantry staples or easily available ingredients
    •  perfect as a brunch or teatime snack
    • can be doubled (or tripled) for a get-together
    • can be made in an oven or on a stovetop in a tawa pan

Bread Pizza on Tawa, Skillet, or Pan

This recipe is perfect for those days when you have pizza cravings! You can make this for a movie night or a Netflix binge as well.

Bread: For a healthier option, use whole wheat bread, multigrain, or brown bread. I used regular sandwich white bread but garlic bread would work well too. You can also revive a stale bread by using it to make this recipe.

Pizza Sauce: The base sauce for this recipe is pizza sauce. You can use store-bought or homemade pizza sauce for this recipe. You may also experiment with pesto sauce, cheese sauce, or white sauce as well.

What if you do not have pizza sauce?

To make a Pizza Sauce at Home, mix together some ketchup, dried mixed herbs or Italian seasonings, a little chili sauce, and sprinkle some red chili flakes.

Toppings: You can use any veggies of your choice. Use any vegetable like onions, green, red, yellow bell peppers, sweet corn, tomato, or mushroom. Use olives, jalapenos, carrots, tofu, or paneer.

If you choose to use tofu or paneer, cook them beforehand, shallow fry the paneer or tofu cut into cubes in a tablespoon of butter or ghee.

You may also use cooked chicken, pepperoni, sausage, or meatballs.

Really, there is no dearth of choices here.

Cheese: You may use pizza cheese or mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese or feta cheese. You may also use a mix of different cheese.

How to Make Veg Bread Pizza on Tawa

Spread pizza sauce on the bread. Add toppings of your choice. I have added onions, green, red, and yellow capsicum.

Add shredded mozzarella cheese. Heat a pan and add half a teaspoon of butter or ghee. Place the bread on the pan/tawa and cook covered in low flame for a couple of minutes until the cheese melts.

Remove and serve hot. You may cut the bread slices into triangles.

    Bread Pizza in Microwave

To make bread pizza in a microwave, slice the bread into triangles and place them in a baking tray. Add the pizza sauce, toppings, and cheese as mentioned in the above steps. To a preheated oven, toast the bread at 200 C for 7-10 minutes until the cheese melts. Serve hot!
Remember, this is done in convection mode on a microwave oven.

    Bread Pizza Variations

Veg Supreme: For this, add onions, sautéed spinach, savory mushrooms, feta cheese, and oregano.

Pesto Pizza: Spoon over some pesto sauce and top it with goat cheese, sundried tomatoes, and cooked sweetcorn.

Egg Cheese: Slice or chop boiled eggs into cubes. Mix it with cheese, spread on the bread, and add veggies of your choice.

BBQ Chicken: Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper and cook in a skillet. To the bread slice, spread BBQ sauce instead of pizza sauce. Top it with cheddar cheese, cubed chicken, mozzarella cheese, onions. Cook and drizzle ranch dressing and chives.

Pizza Variations: 9) Onion, Green Bell pepper, Corn 10) Onion, Red Bell pepper, Sausage

    Description

Crispy toasted bread slices topped with veggies of your choice and gooey cheese goodness! Bread Pizza is a perfect snack or brunch option.

    Ingredients

    Scale

    8-10 Bread Slices

    8 tbsp Pizza Sauce

    ¼ cup Onion, chopped

1 medium Red, Green, Yellow Bellpepper

    ½ cup Mozzarella Cheese

    Mixed Herbs/Chilli Flakes, optional

    Instructions

    Keep all the ingredients ready.

Spread pizza sauce on bread slices.

Add onion, capsicum, and other veggies of your choice.

Top it with shredded cheese, mixed herbs, and chili flakes.

To make on a stovetop: Heat a pan/tawa/skillet. Add a teaspoon of butter. Place a bread slice and cook covered in low flame for a couple of minutes until cheese melts.

To make in an oven: Place the prepared bread slices into a preheated oven at 200 C for 7-10 minutes.

Cut into triangles and serve hot.

    Notes

Use any variety of bread - wheat bread/brown bread/garlic bread/milk bread.

Other veggies you can add - cooked sweet corn/mushroom, olives, tomatoes, carrots. pickled jalapenos, fried tofu, or paneer.

Meat options - Fried sausage, cooked chicken/pepperoni/meatballs.

Make sure that the slices of bread are cooked in low heat. Else it will burn. Use a good heavy bottom pan or tawa to ensure the slices of bread aren't burnt.

Serve with Indian Masala Chai. Here are other kid-friendly dishes that you can make easily.

Oh goody good! I have never tried pizza on the Tawa, and ever since the microwave has stopped working we are dependent on outside pizzas for kiddo's demands. Going to try this today evening itself. Simple and quick.
